The Lakers scored mid-way through the first period and that was all they needed to put an end to the Blades season as the Blades were unable to get any of their 34 shots past one of the league's top goalies - Matiss Kivlenieks.

Nick Mead scored the lone goal for the Blades with the lone assist coming from Joel Lehtonen giving both 61 points for the season, putting them at the top of the list for most career points for any Blades player passing Stan Sojka from the Blades inaugural season. (Posted 2/28/2015)
The Lakers take the season series 4-2. The Blades will face the Lakers in round 1 of the playoffs in a best of 3 series. Friday night 2/27 at 8:30 in Forest Lake, Saturday 2/28 at 7:00 in Owatonna. And if necessary Sunday 3/1 back in Forest Lake at 7:30.
But first, the Blades will close out the regular season against the Maple Grove Energy at the Four Seasons Saturday night 2/21. The Energy lead the season series 3-2.
Bryce Kamenick blocked all 37 shots including 20 in the 3rd period to give the Blades a narrow margin win over the Forest Lake Lakers Saturday night (Feb. 14th). Joel Lehtonen scored the lone goal of the game. Matiss Kivlenieks had 28 saves for the Lakers. The Blades lead the season series 3-2 and host the Lakers next Friday night in their final meeting of the regular season. But first they have to take care of business in Hudson on Sunday night in their final game with the Crusaders. The Crusaders lead the season series 3-2.
The Blades will host the Forest Lake Lakers on Saturday night February 14th. The season series is tied 2-2. There is a good chance these two teams will face each other in the opening round of the playoffs. It is definitely a playoff atmosphere between these two!
Forward Soren Colstrup - Owatonna, MN
Colstrup was called up to the Coulee Region Chill of the Tier II NAHL on January 14th. Colstrup, a native of Owatonna, MN (Ellendale) will be working to make the final playoff roster for the Chill as the final rosters are locked in the first week of February. Soren had 15 points in 11 games with the Blades. He also played two games with the Austin Bruins where he picked up a pair of points.
The Blades lost 7-1 to the first place Ice Hawks on "Stick it to Cancer" night Jan. 16th. Jaeger Zwygart scored the lone goal for the Blades - the defenseman's 4th of the season.
The Blades rebounded on Sunday Jan. 18th against the Minnesota Owls with a 10-0 shut out. Forward Jacob Shannon, who joined the team in December remained hot with a hat trick giving him 12 goals on the season. Josh Beatty picked up the shutout in net.
The Blades travel to Isanti on Sunday January 25th to play the Owls in a make up game that was originally scheduled for November 30th.
The Blades lost to the Ice Hawks on Friday night (Feb. 6th). The Blades will take their 19-17-1 record to Rochester on Friday night Feb. 13th to take on the Ice Hawks for the final time during the regular season. The first place Ice Hawks 31-6-1 lead the series 5-0.

We had over 1,000 attendees and raised over $3,000 for the Stick it to Cancer fund. All proceeds will be donated to the local From the Heart Organization which raises fund for local families dealing with the disease. Their 7th annual From the Heart Half Marathon and 5k will be held on May 2nd 2015. Check out their website for more details.
